Sweden: Tyresö Royal Crowns sign QB Trevor Vasey for 2026 Superserien season
In a surprising development, the Tyresö Royal Crowns have announced the signing of former Örebro Black Knights quarterback Trevor Vasey for the 2026 Swedish Superserien season.
Vasey, a 6-7, 225-pound signal-caller, brings a wealth of experience and impressive stats to the Royal Crowns as they prepare for the 2026 Swedish Superserien season. Vasey spent the 2024 season playing wide receiver for the Black Knights catching 27 passes for 465 yards and seven touchdowns.
A standout career with Örebro
During his four seasons behind center with the Black Knights, Vasey established himself as one of the league’s top quarterbacks. In 22 games, he threw for 5,028 yards and 53 touchdowns, leading Örebro to a championship title in 2021 and playoff appearances in 2022, 2023, and 2024. His standout performance in 2021 earned him the title of league passing leader and the Superserien Most Valuable Player award.
Experience in Europe
Before his successful tenure in Sweden, Vasey played in the German Football League, starting with the Cologne Crocodiles as a receiver in 2017, where he caught 43 passes for 633 yards and six touchdowns. He later joined the Düsseldorf Panthers in 2019, throwing for 1,169 yards and nine touchdowns in just six games. Vasey began his European career in 2016 with the Porvoo Butchers in Finland, where he threw for 2,389 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Royal Crowns reached the Swedish Championship Game in 2025 but were defeated by the Carlstad Crusaders.
