Sweden’s Örebro Black Knights sign QB Trevor Vasey

The Örebro Black Knights who play in the Swedish Superserien, have signed former Worcester State University quarterback Trevor Vasey to lead the team.

The 6’6″, 220 pound 27 year old Vasey from Cumberland, Rhode Island, most recently played for the Dusseldorf Panther in the German Football League (2019) coming in partway through the season. He threw for 1,169 yards and nine touchdowns in the six games he started including the two relegation games, while also rushing for 54 and another two scores. With the Cologne Crocodiles in 2017, playing as a receiver, he caught 43 passes for 633 yards and six touchdowns. As quarterback for the Porvoon Butchers in Finland’s Maple League in 2016, Vasey threw for 2,389 yards and 13 touchdowns while rushing for 225 and another three touchdowns.

In his senior year at Worcester State (NCAA Div. III) he completed 234 of 392 passes for 2,798 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Head coach Sam Eistenstadt has done his homework and is convinced that they have found the right person to lead the team to success during the 2021 season:

“I’m excited to have Trevor here as our quarterback. I loved his highlights which show evidence of a true football player with incredible arm strength and precision. In addition to the fact that with his 6’6″ frame and his huge arm he looks and throws like a catapult, he is exceptionally mobile. I think he will be an attraction in this year’s Super Series.”

Vasey has previously been in Sweden during his season with the Porvoon Butchers in the Finnish league.

“I really liked Sweden when I visited the country during my time in the Finnish league. Örebro as a city and the club both feel very familiar and I am really motivated to come to the city and start working with my teammates. It’s a great opportunity and I’m coming to win a championship!”
