AFI’s Top 20: #1 Braunschweig Bombs Berlin, Tyresö Shocks Carlstad

With now only a handful of nations still in play on the Old Continent, clubs from Germany, Sweden, Finland, UK, and Denmark are still battling for a spot on the AFI TOP 20.

The #1 Braunschweig New Yorker Lions continue to dominate the German Football League topping the Berlin Rebels 40-23.

Austria’s Swarco Raiders stay at #2 after an outstanding season. The Kiel Baltic Hurricanes drop to #6 after losing to the Lions two weeks ago.

The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns move into #3 after beating Saarland 65-35.  Meanwhile, the Dresden Monarchs have flexed their offense weapons against the woeful Berlin Adler in back-to-back wins and move to #4. The Monarchs meet the Baltic Hurricanes this coming weekend in a huge GFL match-up.

Fresh off winning the IFAF Europe Champions League, the Carlstad Crusaders were shocked this weekend by the Tyresö Royal Crowns 34-30 in Sweden’s Super Series play. The undefeated Royal Crowns jump the Crusaders in the rankings and land at #7 in all of Europe, while the Crusaders drop to #9.

France’s champion Saint Ouen l’Aumône Cougars, who have finished their season, stay at #5.

The heavily-favored Allgäu Comets topped Marburg 68-13 and stay at #8.

With many teams seasons’ completed their was little to no movement among the rest of the field. Austrian runner’s up the Vienna Vikings come in a #10 and Czech champions, the Prague Black Panthers are #11.

Poland’s back-t0-back title winners the Gydnia Seahawks are #13, behind UK’s top club, the London Warriors (#12).

Swiss champions Calanda Broncos (#14), France’s runner-ups Thonon Black Panthers (#15) and Italian champions the Milano Seamen are at #16. The Serbian champions, the Novi Sad Dukes, slide to #17 with Poland’s number two team, the Wroclaw Panthers at #18 and IFAF Europe runner’s up SBB Vukovi Belgrade at #19.

Germany’s Saarland Hurricanes (#20) round out the TOP 20!
