Austria: Fehérvár Enthroners earn dramatic revenge against Salzburg Ducks

The Fehérvár Enthroners (2-5) kept their playoff hopes alive this past weekend with a dramatic 23-21 victory over the Salzburg Ducks (2-5) at FIRST Field Székesfehérvár, avenging an earlier three-point defeat in one of the wildest finishes of the Austrian Football League season.

While the win moved the Enthroners closer to the Ducks in the standings, Salzburg still owns the head-to-head tiebreaker by a single point after winning the first meeting 16-13.

Tight battle throughout

The game never lacked tension.

After Salzburg grabbed an early lead, the two teams went into halftime deadlocked at 7-7. Neither side could create much separation as both defenses came up with key stops and forced the offenses to work for every yard.

Head coach Michael Wood called it one of the best wins he has experienced, praising his team’s ability to drive the length of the field under immense pressure.

For Salzburg, the loss was a painful one. Head coach Joe Ashfield pointed to missed opportunities throughout the game while also congratulating the Enthroners on the victory.
