Austria: Graz Giants Secure Solid Win Over Fehervar Enthroners
In a decisive matchup, the Graz Giants (2-2) triumphed over the Fehervar Enthroners (0-4) by a score of 31-8, marking a much-needed victory for the Giants after two narrow away defeats.
Giants strike early
The game kicked off with a bang as Graz’s Moritz Koschak intercepted a pass from Fehervar quarterback Javarin Smith and returned it for a touchdown, putting the Giants ahead early. The Enthroners responded with a safety from Eddie Morales after a blocked punt, but the Giants quickly regained control. Leo Lipták nailed a fantastic 47-yard field goal, and despite a touchdown from Gergely Magyar for Fehervar, Graz’s Julian Kapellari hauled in a touchdown pass from Bastian Steinmair, giving the Giants a comfortable 17-8 lead at halftime.
Dominance in the second half
The second half saw Graz continue to dominate. Sebastian Schrenk returned an interception for a touchdown, further extending the lead. Steinmair connected with Kapellari again in the final quarter, sealing the victory for the Giants. Lipták converted all four extra points, showcasing a strong performance.
After the game, Graz head coach Stefan Pokorny praised his team’s will to win, while Fehervar’s Michael Wood acknowledged the Giants’ solid defense and execution.
