Austria: Swarco Raiders sign Troy University LB William Lloyd

Austria’s defending champions, the Swarco Raiders, have signed heavy-hitting linebacker William Lloyd (Troy University, NCAA, Div. 1 FBS).

The 6′, 22o pound 25-year-old native of Bessemer, Alabama who grew up in Rosedale, Mississippi, spent the past season with the Ravensburg Razorbacks in Germany’s GFL2. Playing as a linebacker, Lloyd topped the league in tackles by a wide margin recording 151 (11.6/game).

A graduate of Troy University where he played for two years, Lloyd amassed 143 tackles and 17 tackles for loss in 2015 and 2016, second best on the team while starting at WILL linebacker. He also had 4.5 sacks. He opened the 2015 season with 15 tackles at NC State, the most tackles in a debut by a Trojan in school history and the seventh most overall in a game in Troy history. Lloyd had played for two seasons at East Mississippi Community College recording 99 tackles.

The Swarco Raiders went unbeaten in 2019 winning the Austrian Bowl, beating the Dacia Vienna Vikings in the process and also downing the Vikings to win the ECTC title. Swarco won the CEFL crown by defeating Switzerland’s Calanda Broncos in a shootout.

The Raiders won the Austrian Bowl in 2018 and also captured the CEFL/NEFL championship, a tournament that included the national champions from nine different countries. Swarco also defeated the Central College Dutch from Iowa 31-26.
