Black Demons big winners in Spanish season opener

The LG OLED Las Rozas Black Demons stunned the Spanish American Football League with an overwhelming 41-6 drubbing of the 2018 Spanish semifinalists, the Murcia Cobras Sunday in the season opener for both teams.

The victory avenged a 35-28 loss in the 2018 Spanish semifinals to Murcia.

In other action, the Badalona Dracs announced their continued dominance in the Spanish league with a convincing 46-12 win over the Valencia Firebats.

Madrid’s Osos Rivas endured the four and a half hour trip to Gijon on the north coast of Spain and showed no mercy in downing the Gijon Mariner 43-6.

The Coslada Camioneros were also lopsided winners as they pummeled the lowly Santiago Black Ravens 47-0. This was the eighth straight loss for the Black Ravens, who have never won a game since entering Spain’s top division last year.

Newcomers, the Fuengirola Potros, surprised the hometown Granada Lions coming away with a 13-0 shutout.

Finally, the Mallorca Voltors took advantage of home field in beating the visiting Zaragoza Hurricanes 14-7.

The Spanish league resumes on the weekend of February 2/3 with a full slate of six games.
