Czech Republic: Vysocina Gladiators continue dominance, blank Steelers in championship rematch

The Vysocina Gladiators (1-0) picked up right where they left off in last year’s title game, shutting out the Ostrava Steelers (0-1) 35–0 in a commanding rematch of the 2025 Czech Snapbacks League championship.

Same story, different season
Just like their 60–10 blowout in last year’s final, the Gladiators overwhelmed Ostrava from the opening drive. The offense moved efficiently on the ground, with Ashton Heard opening the scoring late in the first quarter and Šimon Krahula adding two rushing touchdowns—including a spectacular 76-yard breakaway. Backup quarterback Jakub Mallát also connected with Matěj Majerčák for a late 35-yard score, highlighting the team’s depth.

Defense delivers another statement
The Gladiators’ defense was relentless, limiting Ostrava’s offense primarily to short gains and preventing any serious scoring threats. The unit came up with key stops on fourth down and sealed the game with an interception by Michal Rengsource. Ostrava’s best drive ended in a missed field goal, summing up a frustrating day against Vysocina’s physicality.
