The Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals will put their unbeaten conference record on the line Saturday when they host the Navarro College Bulldogs in the NJCAA Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) Championship Game at Bruce Field in Athens, Texas.

The Cardinals, who finished the regular season a perfect 7–0 in conference play, punched their ticket to the championship with a 30–14 semifinal victory over Snow College. Meanwhile, Navarro survived a 28–25 thriller against Tyler Junior College to earn its shot at the title.

Both teams needed some late-game heroics to get here, setting up what promises to be an entertaining championship showdown.

Cardinals ride defensive fireworks into championship

The Cardinals produced one of the more remarkable defensive performances of the postseason against Snow.

Trailing 7–3 late in the first half, quarterback Jackson LaTour connected with Dilon Tallie on a 55-yard Hail Mary with just three seconds remaining, giving Trinity Valley a 10–7 halftime lead.

But the real fireworks came in the fourth quarter.

Da’Marion Ross returned an interception 92 yards for a touchdown before Amyrian Scott added a 27-yard pick-six, helping the Cardinals pull away.

Trinity Valley finished with three interceptions and four sacks while limiting Snow to 256 total yards.

Offensively, Jalan Campiti rushed for 127 yards on 22 carries, while LaTour threw for 175 yards and a touchdown.

Bulldogs bring explosive ground attack

Navarro showed plenty of resilience in its semifinal victory over Tyler.

After jumping ahead 14–0, the Bulldogs watched the Apaches erase the deficit before delivering two fourth-quarter touchdowns to secure the three-point victory.

Quarterback TJ Tupou completed 19 of 25 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score.

Running back Tyvone Whitehead provided the biggest offensive spark, rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries, including a spectacular 89-yard run.

James Evans and Jaquon Brandon each caught touchdown passes as Navarro accumulated 382 yards of total offense.

Defensive playmakers could decide the title

Both teams feature defenders capable of changing a game in a hurry.

For Navarro, Nico Viveros was outstanding against Tyler, recording 12 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Trinity Valley counters with Scott, Ross and Whitney Fuller, who combined for three interceptions against Snow.

The Bulldogs will also need to clean up their discipline after committing 15 penalties for 145 yards in the semifinal.

Against a defense that thrives on turnovers, those mistakes could prove costly.

Championship stakes at Bruce Field

The Cardinals have been the conference’s standard-bearers throughout the regular season, but Navarro arrives with momentum and confidence after surviving a difficult semifinal.

With a championship on the line, expect both teams to empty the playbook.
