Czech Snapbacks League: Vysocina Gladiators rally to defeat Prerov Mammoths to stay undefeated

In a key Czech Snapbacks League matchup, the Vysocina Gladiators (5-0) overcame a slow start to defeat the Prerov Mammoths (4-2) 35-20 to remain unbeaten at the midpoint of their season. The Gladiators displayed their resilience and powerful running game, turning the tide after a challenging first half.

Mammoths strike first

The game began with the Mammoths taking control early on. Quarterback Visser connected with Novotný for a stunning 46-yard pass, setting the stage for a touchdown run by Visser himself. Although the extra point attempt failed, the Mammoths led 6-0. Things took a turn for the worse for the Gladiators when a botched punt allowed Pour to return the ball for another touchdown, pushing the score to 14-0 after a successful two-point conversion.

Gladiators find their groove

Facing a daunting deficit, the Gladiators leaned heavily on their running game, led by the unstoppable Ashton Heard. He scored his first touchdown by punching the ball in from the three yard line, narrowing the gap to 14-6. Heard struck again with a 49-yard scamper, and a successful two-point conversion from quarterback Jakub Mallát to Matěj Majerčák tied the game at 14-14. Just before halftime, Mallát connected with Peprný for a 29-yard touchdown, and a blocked extra point was converted into a two-point play, giving the Gladiators a 22-14 lead at the break.

Dominance in the second half

The Gladiators came out strong in the second half, starting with an onside kick that was recovered by kicker Petr Čermák. The running game continued to shine, with Dunovský breaking free for a 42-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 29-14. In the final quarter, Šimon Krahula, fresh off a national team match, added another touchdown, bringing the score to 35-14.

The Mammoths managed to score late in the game with a touchdown pass from Visser to Jakub Smolík, but it was too little, too late. The Gladiators celebrated a well-deserved 35-20 victory, maintaining their perfect season record. With this win, the Vysocina Gladiators continue to assert their dominance in the Czech Snapbacks League.
