ELF: Milano Seamen add American DB Marquise Manning

The Milano Seamen of the European League of Football have signed American defensive back Marquise Manning.

The 6’1 195 pound defensive back, played his senior season in 2021 for the Washburn University Ichbod (NCAA Div. II). That season, he racked up 27 tackles and a team-leading three interceptions,12 pass breakups, and a blocked field goal, earning himself All-MIAA and the Super Region Three first team honors.

As a junior in 2019, Manning earned All MIAA honorable mention, in his first season as a starter making 28 tackles, two interceptions, 10 pass breakups and one forced fumble in only seven games. He also served as the team’s part time kick returner totaling 156 return yards.

Manning had recently signed a deal with the Chicago Blue Bombers of the United Football League but now seems to have chosen to take his talent abroad.

Manning joins Dejvion Steward as the two important American on defense. The Seamen defense features several European veterans as the team has announced linebacker Kevin Khay, Edoardo Gallo, Claudia Nicola, and Diego Rinaldi. The newcomer will be joining an Italian team looking to make some noise in the ELF this summer.

Manning is the Seamen’s fourth and final American import as the team has already signed veteran defender Dejvion Steward, receiver and kick returner Jean Constant, and long-time seamen quarterback Luke Zahradka.
