ELF: Wroclaw Panthers add WR/KR KaVontae Turpin

The Wroclaw Panthers of the European League of Football have been busy beefing up their team before the ELF player transfer deadline and have announced a second key signing in a short time – explosive wide receiver/kick returner KaVontae Turpin.

Turpin, a former Texas Christian University (NCAA D1) receiver and kick returner joins the Panthers after the departure of injured running back Mark Herndon.

Wroclaw management moved quickly adding Turpin just before the player transfer window closed.

Turpin is thrilled to be joining the Panthers for the remainder of the season:

“Thanks for the opportunity! I’m excited to represent the Panthers organization!”

The 5’9″, 160-pound speedster most recently played this year for the Sea Lions in The Spring League, scoring three touchdowns in six games. Preceding his stint in the TSL, the Monroe, Louisiana native played arena football in the Fan-Controlled-Football League. Following his NCAA career Turpin put up impressive athletic numbers at his Pro Day, most notably a 4.38, 40-yard dash.

Prior to pursuing a pro career, Turpin played four seasons at Texas Christian University (NCAA D1) where he was used as a kick returner and wide receiver. A versatile offensive weapon, he finished his career with 1,748 yards and 13 touchdowns receiving while adding 318 yards and two more scores on the ground, to go along with one career passing touchdown. Despite his success as an X factor for the Horned Frogs offense, Turpin truly shined on special teams. As a kick returner, Turpin racked up 2,726 yards and four touchdowns during his career, earning all-conference honors in the process.

However, Turpin’s college career ended prematurely when he was dismissed from the team halfway through his senior season in 2018 for violation of school policies.

Turpin joins a 3-3 Wroclaw Panthers team looking to make a push for the playoffs as the European League of Football’s final regular-season stretch approaches.
