ELF: Wroclaw Panthers sign QB Nik Rango

The Wroclaw Panthers have announced that they have signed American quarterback Nik Rango for the upcoming 2023 European League of Football season.

At 6’2”, 200 pounds, the 24 year old hails from upstate New York where he played collegiately in the 2018 season at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York.  As a freshman that season, he threw for 2,098 yards and 13 touchdowns with 10 interceptions in 10 games.  He then committed to play for the University at Albany Great Danes (NCAA, Div. I, FCS), but never played a game for them due to COVID-19 complications.  Rango later joined the Virginia Armada of Major League Football in early 2022 but did not play for them either as the league shut down before the team played a game.  Since then, Rango has gained experience by competing in a number of tryouts at different levels, including the CFL and XFL.

Rango joins a Wroclaw team that finished last season with a record of 5-7.  The Panthers used four different quarterbacks for injury-related reasons.  As such, their passing offense was middling all season.  With a new head coach in Dave Christensen on board for next season, the Panthers organization is hoping for a fresh start and a successful season in the ELF’s Eastern Conference.  Though Rango may not be as experienced as other quarterbacks in the league, they believe he has what it takes to be a solid starter.

With Wroclaw’s signing of Rango, now each of the 17 teams in the ELF have their starting quarterback ahead of the 2023 season.

A current student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Carter played football in high school and has been a lifelong avid football fan.
