Europe’s Elite’s Evan Harrington joins Washington Redskins

Former head coach of Switzerland’s Winterthur Warriors and co-founder in 2016 of Europe’s Elite, Evan Harrington has announced that he has been named Assistant Director of Player Engagement with the NFL’s Washington Redskins.

According to the Redskins website, the mission of Player Engagement is:

To challenge National Football League players to be lifelong learners while pursuing continuous improvement in family relations, social interactions, personal growth and career development during and beyond their NFL careers. Player Engagement is the hub for a wide range of league-sponsored programs designed to meet the needs of players and their families in today’s NFL. Since its inception in 1991, more than 8,500 players and significant others have made use of programs administered by the department. The program strives to deliver a continuum of consistent services (degree completion, internships, life-skills seminars and employee assistance) to all active and practice squad players.

A University of Colorado graduate, Harrington played for four years with the Buffaloes at linebacker and fullback. He spent a season playing for the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League, and then served as a graduate assistant at CU in 2013. In 2014, he played for the Basel Gladiators in Switzerland, helping them win a Swiss championship. Moving to the Frankfurt Galaxy (GFL2) in 2015, Harrington was a key in Frankfurt’s undefeated season and promotion to the German Football League.

After hanging up his cleats, he took over coaching the Winterthur Warriors (2016-2018). In 2018, he also took on the role of running backs coach at Independence Community College, Independence, Kansas. For the past year he has devoted his life on a full time basis to identifying young talented football players through Europe’s Elite and helping them find schools in the United States. Recently, Harrington and Europe’s Elite joined forces with the American Flag Football League (AFFL) to bring the first ever AFFL Style Tournament to Europe which takes place April 20 in Las Rozas (Madrid) Spain with the help of the Spanish American Football Federation.
