Firenze Guelfi dominate Ferrara Aquile 40-12 in IFL showdown

In a decisive Italian Football League matchup, the Firenze Guelfi (4-0) continued their unbeaten streak by defeating the Ferrara Aquile (2-3) 40-12. The Guelfi showcased their depth and versatility, but the Aquile put up a fight, especially in the middle of the game.

Guelfi take early control
The Guelfi wasted no time asserting their dominance. Quarterback Andrea Fimiani quickly found Frankie Stola for a touchdown, putting Firenze on the board first. The Guelfi defense, led by Matteo Fajeti’s interception, kept the pressure on Ferrara, allowing Cosimo Casati to score another rushing touchdown, extending the lead to 14-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Aquile fight back
Despite the early deficit, the Aquile responded in the second quarter. Quarterback Ryan Kraft found his rhythm, using his legs and arm, connecting with wide receiver Matteo Medini. Ferrara finally got on the scoreboard with a field goal from Roberto Antochi, followed by  a rushing touchdown by Kraft, narrowing the gap to 14-10. The Aquile’s defense stepped up with an interception from Jaren Banks. However, just as they seemed to be gaining momentum, Fimiani found Stola again, pushing the Guelfi’s lead to 21-10 at halftime.

Guelfi seal the victory
The second half saw Ferrara’s defense make a crucial play with a safety from Deedat Safiano, bringing the score to 21-12. However, the Guelfi quickly responded with another touchdown from Fimiani to Stola, followed by a successful onside kick that led to Casati’s second touchdown, extending their lead to 33-12. In the fourth quarter, Fimiani capped off his impressive performance with a touchdown pass to Eystin Salum, sealing the game at 40-12.

While the Aquile left the field defeated, they demonstrated resilience against the league’s top team. The Guelfi, on the other hand, continued to prove their status as a powerhouse in the Italian Football League.
