American football fans all over Brazil rejoiced, knowing that very likely, some of their dream matchups between the teams of Brazil’s top two league’s, could finally come true.

In a game that loaded the field with talent, Flamengo earned a hard-fought 25-10 victory over a João Pessoa team that many thought could have walked out of Rio with a win.

Veteran quarterback, KC Frost, and first year running back, Felipe Florêncio paced the Flamengo offense, with Frost running for a score and hitting 2016’s breakout wide receiver star, Patrick Dutton Tavares, with a scoring pass, while Florêncio opened the games scoring with a touchdown run, and returned a kick 90 yards for another score.

Defensively, Flamengo defensive back, Luiz Honkis, continued a stellar season, by playing what his Head Coach, Otavio Roichman, dubbed as a ‘’perfect game.’’

Linebacker, Herbert Ferreira, added a pick, and Flamengo’s defensive heart and soul, veteran Ival Mazeiro, had a crucial 4th down pass break up to seal Flamengo’s victory, maintain their undefeated record, and send the team to Superliga’s national championship game.

The win sets up a much-anticipated showdown with Conferencia Sul’s number 1 seeded Timbo T-Rex, on Sunday, December 18, at 2 pm local time, at Estadio Olaria in Rio de Janerio.
