Germany: Final Stats leaders with playoffs set to start

With the regular season now over and the playoffs looming this weekend in the German Football League, AFI presents the  final regular-season leaders in the offensive categories of passing yardage, rushing, and receiving as well as the leading tacklers in the GFL.

Of the 14 teams in the GFL, 10 were represented on the lists of top passers, rushers, receivers, and defenders. The Dresden Monarchs, Cologne Crocodiles, and Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, all from the GFL North, led with three representatives each while the Saarland Hurricanes, Braunschweig New Yorker Lions, and Munich Cowboys had two apiece. The Potsdam Royals, Allgäu Comets, and Marburg Mercenaries all had one while, surprisingly, the undefeated Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns did not have a single representative among the 20 listed here. Also without representation although not as surprising given where they finished in the standings were the Berlin Rebels, Stuttgart Scorpions, and Frankfurt Universe.

Passing

Dresden Monarchs QB KJ Carta Samuels led all passers in the GFL throwing for 3,340 yards and a whopping 46 TDs against only 5 picks. Not far behind in 2nd spot was Christian Strong of the Cologne Crocodiles who had 3,185 yards passing and 32 TD passes. Saarland Hurricanes QB Josh Goldin threw for 2,898 yards good for 3rd but he led all passers with a 70.5 completion percentage. In 4th was Joe Germinerio of the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes who had 2,265 yards passing and 21 TD passes. Ravensburg Razorbacks QB Ryan Deal was the 5th leading passer with 2,088 yards and 16 TDs.

Rushing

Jake Mayon of the Potsdam Royals was the leading rusher in the GFL with his 1,419 yards and 20 TDs. His 157.7 yards a game was also a league-best mark. Behind him in 2nd was Allgäu Comets RB Glen Toonga who had 1,099 yards rushing. Third place belonged to Exavier Edwards of the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions who had 724 yards rushing and 9 rushing TDs. Ravensburg Razorbacks RB Lennies McFerren came 4th with 660 yards while Brandon Watkins of the Munich Cowboys wound up 5th with 643 yards.

Receiving

Kiel Baltic Hurricanes WR Weston Carr led all receivers with 1,318 yards averaging a league-leading 131.8 yards per game. Behind him in 2nd was Markell Castle of the Cologne Crocodiles with 1,218 yards while his teammate Aaron Jackson was a close 3rd with 1,215 yards. Dresden Monarchs Darrell Stewart Jr. wound up 4th with 974 yards while fellow Monarchs wide receiver Robin Wilzeck slid into 5th with 903 yards.

Tackles

Kiel Baltic Hurricanes LB Darin Hungerford was the leading tackler in the league in 2021 recording 121 tackles in 10 games. Behind him in 2nd was always reliable Munich Cowboys Ryan Newell who had 96 tackles while Jeremy Conley of the Ravensburg Razorbacks was the 3rd best tackler with his 89. Saarland Hurricanes LB Sesan Jelvani was 4th with 78 while Robert Heyward of the Marburg Mercenaries finished with 77 tackles, good for 5th.
