Germany: Kiel Baltic Hurricanes secure continuity, re-sign QB PJ Settles for 2026

The Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, fresh off a playoff appearance, are ensuring stability by bringing back the quarterback who led them there, re-signing dual-threat playmaker PJ Settles for the 2026 German Football League season.

A huge win for continuity
This move is a significant departure from the norm in the GFL, where import players change teams frequently. For the first time since 2012, the Hurricanes will have the same American quarterback under center for a second consecutive season. Head Coach Timo Zorn expressed immense excitement, stating, “Having continuity in this position is extremely valuable and I’m really looking forward to developing the offense in his second season in Kiel and building on last year’s success.”

A proven winner in the GFL
Settles is no stranger to German football success. Back in 2021, he led the Potsdam Royals to the GFL semifinals during his first season in the league, demonstrating his ability to immediately elevate a team’s performance. That experience paved the way for his successful 2025 campaign with Kiel.

The engine of the offense
The 28 year old, 6-0, 212 pound native of Nashville, Tennessee was the catalyst for the Hurricanes’ resurgence in 2025. He proved to be a dynamic force, expertly balancing the pass and run. Settles finished the year by completing 206 passes for 2,448 yards and 25 touchdowns through the air, while also rushing for an additional nine scores himself.

With Settles back in the fold, the Hurricanes have their offensive leader secured, providing stability and a high ceiling for the squad as they prepare for another run in the GFL North when the season kicks off in May.
