Germany: Ravensburg Razorbacks lock down All-Star safety Alex Mashak for 2026

he Ravensburg Razorbacks, fresh off their 2025 GFL1 South championship season, have secured a key piece of their defense by re-signing First Team All-GFL defensive back Alex Mashak for the 2026 campaign.

A defensive cornerstone returns
Bringing back the 27-year-old safety is a massive win for the Razorbacks‘ secondary. The 5-11, 200-pound playmaker from Lodi, Wisconsin is coming off a spectacular 2025 season where he finished as the fifth-leading tackler in the entire GFL with 74.5 tackles while also grabbing 5 interceptions. This followed a strong 2024 debut where he recorded 64 tackles and another pick.

Versatility and proven production
Mashak has been invaluable to Ravensburg since joining the team, contributing not only at safety but also as a nickel defender and return specialist. His ability to play multiple positions and make game-changing plays has made him one of the league’s most complete defensive backs.

Building on a strong foundation
Before his GFL success, Mashak was a standout at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he was a three-year starting linebacker and All-Conference selection in the WIAC. He finished his collegiate career with 180 tackles and 19 tackles for loss, demonstrating the same defensive instincts that have made him so successful in Germany.

With Mashak back in the fold for his third season, the Razorbacks maintain continuity in their secondary while keeping one of the GFL‘s top defensive playmakers as they look to defend their division title in 2026.
