Germany’s Kiel Baltic Hurricanes sign Timothy Speckman as offensive coordinator

The Kiel Baltic Hurricanes who play in the German Football League, have signed Timothy Speckman as their new offensive coordinator for the 2021 season.

In 2019, the Hurricanes had a tough season finishing with a record of 2-11-1.

Speckman spent the 2020 season, guiding the Örebro Black Knights in the Swedish Superserien to a 3-3 record in the pandemic-shortened season and a close 13-7 loss to the Carlstad Crusaders in the semifinals.

The 40 year old Speckman, a native of Redwood City, California,  and graduate of Willamette University, has had an extensive football coaching career in Germany, most recently as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach for the Hurricanes.  He had moved over to the Hurricanes from the Hamburg Huskies where he served as head coach and sports director.

He originally arrived in Germany in 2012 as the head coach and offensive coordinator for the Lübeck Seals where he stayed for two seasons. He played at Willamette and coached at the school in 2005 (slot receivers) and then again from 2007-2011 (running backs). His father, Mark Speckman, is currently running backs and assistant head coach with Dan Hawkins (former OC with Carlstad Crusaders) who is the head coach at UC Davis.

The German Football League has announced a 10 game regular season schedule stretching from June 5/6 to October 9 when the German Bowl is proposed to be held in Frankfurt.
