GFL offensive leaders: McGovern tops passing race, Joiner breaks 1,000 yards, Moss leads receivers

With the German Football League regular season heading into its closing stretch, the offensive leaderboards have taken shape. Broghean McGovern of the Ravensburg Razorbacks has moved to the top of the passing chart, Kelley Joiner of the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns has broken the 1,000-yard rushing barrier, and Montigo Moss of the Dresden Monarchs leads all receivers with more than 1,300 yards.

McGovern moves to the top

McGovern has emerged as the league’s leading passer, throwing for 2,900 yards and 32 touchdowns for the Ravensburg Razorbacks. He has completed 182 of 313 attempts, with his 32 scoring passes also leading the group.

Nicholas Semptimphelter of the Munich Cowboys sits close behind with 2,764 yards and 27 touchdowns while completing 66 percent of his passes.

Drequan Harris of the Pforzheim Wilddogs has thrown for 2,555 yards and 27 touchdowns against just seven interceptions, while Rocky Lombardi has helped power the Dresden Monarchs with 2,349 yards and 25 touchdowns. Lombardi has completed 69 percent of his attempts.

Ryon Thomas of the Braunschweig Lions rounds out the top five with 2,287 yards and 18 touchdowns while completing 65 percent of his passes.

Joiner breaks 1,000-yard mark

No running back in the league has been able to match Joiner’s production for the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns.

Joiner has reached 1,006 yards on just 100 carries, averaging 10.1 yards per attempt while scoring 12 touchdowns. His longest run has covered 80 yards.

Thomas has provided the Braunschweig Lions with production on the ground as well as through the air, rushing for 868 yards and nine touchdowns on 169 carries.

Nebechi Abana of the Regensburg Phoenix is close behind with 849 yards and nine touchdowns, while Chrisman-Kyei of the Potsdam Royals has gained 731 yards on only 85 attempts, an average of 8.6 yards per carry.

Mathis Harang gives the Unicorns a second player among the top five with 680 yards and seven touchdowns.

Moss leads loaded receiving race

Moss has separated himself at the top of the receiving standings for the Dresden Monarchs, catching 72 passes for 1,304 yards and a league-leading 18 touchdowns. He is averaging 18.1 yards per reception.

Gabriel Boccella continues his huge season for the Munich Cowboys with 66 catches for 1,088 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Peter Anderson of the Braunschweig Lions has reached 982 yards on 70 receptions with 10 touchdowns, while Gabe Quigley of the Allgäu Comets has a league-high 87 catches for 977 yards and eight scores.

Maximilian-McLeod of the Potsdam Royals completes the top five with 56 receptions for 891 yards and 10 touchdowns.

With the postseason approaching, the individual races remain very much alive, but McGovern, Joiner and Moss have established the numbers everyone else is chasing.
