GFL statistical leaders take center stage as season resumes after summer break
Following the summer break, the German Football League returns this weekend with teams beginning the stretch run toward the playoffs. While a new name sits atop the passing leaderboard, Kelley Joiner and Gabriel Boccella continue to lead the league’s rushing and receiving races following outstanding first-half performances.
Harris leads passing race
Pforzheim Wilddogs quarterback Drequan Harris enters the second half of the season as the GFL’s leading passer. Harris has completed 138 of 222 passes (62 percent) for 2,186 yards and 23 touchdowns while averaging an impressive 15.8 yards per completion.
Close behind is Munich Cowboys quarterback Nicholas Semptimphelter, who has thrown for 1,970 yards and 21 touchdowns while completing 70 percent of his passes. Dresden Monarchs quarterback Rocky Lombardi ranks third with 1,826 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, while Braunschweig Lions signal caller Ryon Thomas has added 1,813 yards and 16 scores.
The touchdown leader, however, is Potsdam Royals quarterback Xeaiver Bullock, who has thrown a league-best 25 touchdown passes while totaling 1,717 yards.
Joiner continues to set the pace on the ground
Heading into the second half of the season, Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns running back Kelley Joiner remains the league’s top rusher.. He has carried the ball 86 times for 889 yards, averaging an outstanding 10.3 yards per carry while scoring 11 touchdowns.
Thomas has also been a dangerous dual-threat for Braunschweig, rushing for 697 yards and seven touchdowns. Joiner’s teammate Mathis Harang sits third with 407 rushing yards, while Saarland Hurricanes running back Joshua Youngblood has added 395 yards and four touchdowns.
Potsdam running back Chrisman-Kyei rounds out the top five with 374 rushing yards.
Boccella remains the league’s receiving leader
Munich Cowboys receiver Gabriel Boccella is still the league’s most productive target, hauling in 48 receptions for 815 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdown catches.
Close behind is Potsdam Royals receiver Maximilian McLeod with 44 catches for 808 yards and 10 touchdowns. Dresden Monarchs playmaker Montigo Moss has recorded 741 receiving yards and 10 scores, while Braunschweig Lions receiver Peter Anderson has caught 55 passes for 726 yards.
Rounding out the top five is Pforzheim Wilddogs receiver AJ Coons, who has totaled 712 receiving yards while continuing to provide another dangerous option in one of the GFL’s most explosive passing attacks.
With every playoff race still very much alive, the league’s statistical leaders will have plenty of opportunities to add to those totals as the GFL enters the decisive stretch of the regular season.
