Hungary: Fehérvár Enthroners keep winning streak alive, advance to Hungarian Bowl

The defending champion Fehérvár Enthroners became the first team to qualify for the championship final in the Hungarian Football League after snatching an important 28-7 win against the Győr Sharks.

The Enthroners took the lead early and despite a valiant effort by Gyor, pulled away for a solid win.

Rashad Still gave Fehérvár a 7-0 lead after hauling in a 30 yard pass from quarterback Márk Erős. But the Sharks answered with quarterback Chris Jeffrey marching his team down to the Enthroners’ 36 yard line and then finding László Benedek for the touchdown to even the score at 7-7.

In the second quarter, the Enthroners relied mostly on their running game with Márk Erős and running back Dávid Novakov moving the chains until getting to the red zone. From close range, running back Levente Tóth powered his way into the end zone to give Fehervar a 14-7 lead.

The Sharks’ defense kept the score close before the half time break with defensive back Dániel Seres recovering a fumble for his team.

In the second half, Still’s second touchdown reception of the game to make it 21-7 brought the Enthroners closer to the Hungarian Bowl.

The Sharks tried to close the gap, but Fehérvár’s defense stood solid with defensive back Máté Gyarmati deflecting passes and making key tackles. The reigning title holders finally punched their ticket to the Hungarian Bowl after Erős’ rushing touchdown. József Beretka (K) left a perfect day behind by kicking his fourth extra point giving the Enthroners a 28-7 win.
