IFAF: Team Colombia cruises to easy win over Chile in opening round of trination Sul Americano tournament

In the opening round of the trination International Federation of American Football sanctioned tournament –Sul Americano – being held in Brasilia, Brazil between Brazil, Colombia and Chile, Team Colombia easily defeated Chile 29-0 in the first ever meeting between the two countries.

Colombia opened the scoring on their first possession taking a 7-0 lead. With Team Chile’s offense sputtering, the Colombians extended the lead to 14-0 late in the second quarter and held that advantage going into the break.

The third quarter saw Chile continuing to struggle on offense after abandoning their run game which had started to make headway. The Colombian offense marched the length of the field late in the third quarter and finally scored early in the fourth to extend the lead to 21-0.

In the fourth, Colombia’s defense held Chile in check and the offense added a final touchdown plus the two-point conversion for the 29-0 win.

The tournament continues on December 2 when Colombia faces the formidable squad from Brazil. Brazil will then square off against Chile on December 3 in the final game of the trination tournament.
