Italy: Ancona Dolphins sign standout DB Cameren Grodhaus

The Ancona Dolphins have secured a significant defensive weapon for their 2026 Italian Football League campaign, signing former Davenport University (NCAA Div. II) defensive back Cameren Grodhaus, a 6-2, 210 pound, 23 year old from Wellsville, Ohio.

Transfer with proven production
Grodhaus brings a wealth of experience to Ancona, having split his collegiate career between Lake Erie College (2020-23) and Davenport University. In his final season with the Davenport Panthers, the Ohio native delivered a dominant performance, recording 96 tackles—including 5 tackles for loss—and 3 interceptions across 11 games. This followed a solid 2023 season with the Lake Erie Storm where he totaled 54 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery in 10 games.

A complete defensive package
Dolphins coach Rik Parker highlighted Grodhaus’s versatility, noting his quickness and ability to cover all areas of the field. Offensive coordinator Aquinati added that Grodhaus’s high school background as a receiver and return specialist brings additional dynamism to the defense. His proven knack for creating turnovers and delivering impactful tackles makes him an ideal fit for the Italian Football League.

Strengthening the Dolphins’ roster
Grodhaus is the second major international signing for Ancona this offseason, joining quarterback Carter Cravens. Both players are expected to arrive in Italy by the end of January, giving them ample time to integrate with the team ahead of the 2026 season. With his blend of size, production, and versatility, Grodhaus is poised to become an immediate difference-maker for the Dolphins’ defense.
