Italy holding CFL Global Combine in early 2021

After discussions with the Canadian Football League, the Italian Federation of American Football, FIDAF (Federazione Italiana di American Football), has announced plans to hold a CFL Global Combine in early 2021.

Late last week, CFL CFO and head of football operations, Greg Dick, informed the various nations that the CFL Combine is tentatively scheduled for March 26-28, 2021, although that could change depending on COVID-19 and health restrictions in Canada. All players who attended a 2020 Global Combine will remain as draft eligible players for the 2021 Global Draft.

“The 2021 Global Draft is very important to the return to play agenda of the CFL. The talent represented in the draft pool is unprecedented. I am confident that there will be many global player highlights during the 2021 CFL season.”

Against this background, FIDAF has tentatively scheduled a Global Combine in Italy, it’s second ever. It will be held in late February or early March, again depending on the situation at the time.

CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie:

“We are in a world that requires agility, flexibility and great attention. This is why we have decided not to organize the promised Global Draft, but to invite all the previously selected Global players directly to Toronto to participate in the CFL Combine, an event that will be followed by the Global Draft before the start of the 2021 season. talent evidenced by the combine around the world is unprecedented and I am sure that many Global players will be protagonists in the CFL Championship next season.”

Players interested in participating can view the guidelines and receive a specific training program, “Combine Prep” from the FIDAF website by clicking the link at the bottom of the article in Italian.
