Italy: Milano Seamen bolster secondary with D2 stand-out Jarey Elder

The defending Italian champions, the Milano Seamen, have signed West Chester University (DII) alumni and ball-hawk Jarey Elder.

Standing at 5’11 and 195 pounds the Pennsylvania talent was a key component to the West Chester University‘s defense that got them to the playoffs in 2018. In his senior year he led the team and conference with seven interceptions, ranking third in all of NCAA D2.

Elder had this to say on his signing and being in Milan:

“I chose the Seamen because they are a winning team and I heard nothing but great things about them. My time here has been good so far. The team has been extremely helpful with the transition here. Football is football no matter where you’re at. The only difference is the  time that people have been playing the game.”

The D2CCA second team All-American recorded 187 tackles, 12 TFL, 14 interceptions, 31 pass deflections and three forced fumbles during his collegiate career, appearing in every single game.

Elder is joining the most successful Italian Division 1 team in the last decade, with five of the last six championships going to the Seamen. He will be catching passes from Seamen dual-passport veteran quarterback Luke Zahradka who has been with the team since 2017.

The Seamen kick off their season this coming Saturday against the Parma Panthers on AFI.tv.
