The Hawaiian connection is growing in Bergamo, Italy. The Bergamo Lions of Italy’s top league, have added another Hawaiian to the team with the signing of versatile running back/defensive back Kaulana Waalani-Arroyo for the 2018 season.

Lions head coach Adam Rita, also a native of Hawaii is pleased:

“Kaulana is a great all around athlete with the ability to play any of the skill positions on offense or on defense, and can contribute on special teams as a punter or any position you desire him to play..he has a passion for the game, has great FBI (football intelligence). He is a young man of great character. I feel lucky to have him on the team.”

The 6’1″, 190 lb Waalani-Arroyo is a native of the island of Kauai, Hawaii (coach Rita’s birthplace) where he attended Waimea High School. After playing at the New Mexico Military Institute, he moved on the Fort Lewis College (NCAA Div. II) and finished his four year career as captain of the Skyhawks.
