Japan: X League – IBM Big Blue historic, record 1st ever regular season win over Lixil Deers

IBM Big Blue recorded their third win of the season as they defeated the Lixil Deers (1-3) 34-10 at Fujitsu Stadium Kawasaki in Japan’s X League Week 4 action.
This was the third straight victory for IBM after suffering a loss to the Fujitsu Frontiers in the opening game of the season.
IBM jumped out to a 27-3 halftime lead and then cruised in the second half in posting their first-ever regular season win over the Deers after 12 losses.

Quarterback Yuki Masamoto completed 16 of 27 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns while rookie wide receiver Yoshihito Omi had four catches for 76 yards and a touchdown. Receiver Takashi Kurihara returned a punt 43 yards for IBM’s first touchdown and later caught a 7-yard touchdown pass. Toshiki Sato kicked a pair of short field goals .
For Lixil, running back Yuki Shirakami’ scored on a 19 yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Next up for IBM is the Asahi Soft Drinks Challengers on October 8 while Lixil takes on Elecom Kobe Finies, also on October 8.
