Kiski School defeat U19 Irish Wolfhounds in lopsided shutout

Despite the scoreline, the Irish Under 19 Wolfhounds put up a fight against the Kiski School from Pennsylvania in the final game of the 2025 Global Ireland Football Tournament (GIFT) games at Engergia Park in Dublin but fell 59-0.

The Americans’ first two drives were stifled first by an Irish fumble recovery and then a turnover when only 13 yards from the end zone. Irish defenses were finally breached when quarterback Jaivin Peel threw the first of his four touchdowns on the night, finding Noa Seyi Onobiono, who also converted the point after and caught three total touchdowns.

Onobiono fought his way to the end zone having again connected with Peel for a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Resendo Holdrege reeled in a touchdown as the lead grew to 20 points and Peel found Onobiono wide open in the end zone to extend the advantage. Dean Stevens returned a punt for a touchdown and Kiski led 33-0 at halftime.

Leo McBrien came up with a fumble recovery of his own strip sack, but Ireland was unable to capitalize. Instead, Mason Jones fought off twice being in the grasp of Irish blitzers to dance his way to a 35-yard touchdown run and a 40-point lead.

Adrian Valdez scored on the ground, Machael Armstrong raced over left end to the end zone and Ryan Chambers returned a fumble for a touchdown to complete the scoring.

Rugby and Field Hockey

On Thursday three rugby games and one field hockey contest extended the sporting reach of the GIFT event.

At Terenure College Rugby Club the hosts’ girls team beat Southeast Polk girls from Iowa 38-28 as the Americans recovered from conceding two early tries to bring themselves back into the game.

Bondurant Blue Plague boys rugby was no match for a more experienced select home team, falling to a 52-0 defeat, which Iowa State’ men lost 41-11 to another well-drilled Terenure College team.

The Hun School’s girls field hockey team took on a University College Dublin select team and lost 2-0 having had two goals disallowed for infringements.
