La Courneuve Flash crush Grizzlys Catalans 61-15 in Wild Card showdown
The La Courneuve Flash put on a spectacular performance against the Grizzlys Catalans, winning decisively 61-15 in the wild card round of the French D1 Elite playoffs. With this impressive victory, the Flash secured their spot in the next round, where they will face the Iron Mask in Cannes in two weeks.
Early struggles turn to Flash dominance
The game kicked off with a huge turnover as the Grizzlys botched a snap during a punt attempt, resulting in a safety for the Flash (2-0). The Catalans quickly responded with a strong drive, capped off by a touchdown from Whitfield Mandane, giving them a brief lead at 7-2. However, La Courneuve wasted no time retaliating as on the next possession Mathys Dupont nailed a long field goal to cut the deficit to 5-7, and the Flash began to find their rhythm.
Flash takes control
The turning point came when quarterback Jaylen Tregle connected with DeAndre Mister for a long touchdown pass, putting the Flash ahead 12-7. From there, it was all La Courneuve. Tregle added another rushing touchdown, and Mister found the end zone again, pushing the score to 33-7 by halftime. The Flash’s offense was firing on all cylinders, and their defense was relentless.
Defensive dominance seals the deal
In the second half, the Flash continued to apply pressure. Former Flash player and now Grizzlys quarterback Badis Grami struggled under the relentless defense, throwing four interceptions, three of which were snagged by Raphael Fourlin, who returned one for a pick six. The Grizzlys managed a late touchdown to salvage some pride, but the damage was done.
With a final score of 61-15, the La Courneuve Flash showcased their dominance and are now focused on capturing the French championship title in Cannes! They will now take on the undefeated Cannes Iron Mask in the semifinals.
