LIVESTREAM: Germany – Kirchdorf Wildcats v. Stuttgart Scorpions – April 21 (4p CEST, 10a EST)

A new era will be ushered in for the Kirchdorf Wildcats Saturday when they host the Stuttgart Scorpions at Energie Arena in Kirchdorf on the opening day of the German Football League.

This will be the first game in the German Football League for the Wildcats since the club was founded in 1986.

Team president Hans-Peter Klein:

“It is truly something really special for as and the whole team is super excited.”

For the small town of Kirchdorf (pop. 1,295), playing in the biggest league in Europe is a huge deal, and this is a fact not lost on head coach Christoph Reiner:

“Naturally, we are the underdogs, but this can be our big chance, too. We want to surprise our opponent. We as a coaching staff have to find a strategy that can totally surprise the Scorpions.”

Reiner has coached the Wildcats for six years now and according to most, he is the reason the team was able to get promoted to the GFL.

Kirchdorf had been knocking on the door for several years but finally won the GFL2 relegation series against the Saarland Hurricanes last year after posting a 9-2-1 record during the regular season.

Stuttgart enters the game looking for vast improvement on 2017’s 4-10 record and they are hoping their new quarterback Frank Brock will help them. The University of Indianapolis graduate spent part of the 2017 season with the Franken Knights.

Scorpions new head coach Jermaine Guynn is definitely looking for the team to improve on last season’s performance.
