The Mödling Rangers (0-4) will host the Prague Black Panthers (0-3) in this battle of Austrian Football League teams. Both squads have started the season dealing with different adverse situations and are still looking for their first win.

Prague had their game postponed last week after issues around COVID-19 and the Czech Republic’s border. That being said, the Black Panthers are eager to get back on the field. Offensively, quarterback Zack Greenlee looks to target tall receiver Jakub Wolesky often as the two have combined for two scores this season.

Greenlee the on the team’s ability to persevere despite a far from predictable season:

“We’re excited for another opportunity to step on the field this weekend, and will continue to push forward. Our mentality in practice has been great, and that along with our past games will help build our character.”

One the Prague’s brightest stars has been defensive back and receiver Nolan Corpening. Unfortunately, Corpening went down with an injury in their last game and his status for today is uncertain. Look for safety Jan Krs to step up on defense as he’s currently the teams leading tackler. Krs’s play will be vital as Prague’s secondary could miss Corpening’s speed.

For the Rangers, they were able to finish last week’s game with some positive momentum as they scored with less than five minutes left to get on the board. At times their offense has been explosive as quarterback Benjamin Bräuer has been able to find receivers down field. The running game has also shown flashes as Nick Milgate is a dynamic athlete with the ball in his hands.

Milgate commented on the team’s mindset facing Prague:

“Our main focus on both sides of the ball are to take what we’ve done well in the first half of the season and try to put I all together this week and after. If we can finish drives on offense and make third down stops on defense we know we can be successful.”

Defensively, the Rangers will need to step up in the trenches as Prague brings with them a powerful run blocking offensive line and a couple of tough-to-tackle running backs. Fans should expect a big game from national team defensive back Benjamin Formann who has been one of Mödling’s better defenders.

Both of these teams are eager to get in the win column as one of them should get their first win of the season today. Prague has been competitive in all of its games despite a lot of adversity around the pandemic and their struggles of crossing the border into Austria. Expect the Black Panthers to play well as they’ve had a week off to prepare for Mödling.
