LIVESTREAM CEFL: La Courneuve Flash @ Badalona Dracs, April 23, 18:00 CET (6 pm, 12 noon ET)

Spain’s Badalona Dracs enter the Central European Football League season playing at home against a formidable opponent in the unbeaten La Courneuve Flash from Paris.

The Dracs most recent foray into the international scene was in the IFAF ECTC 2019 tournament where they finished with a 1-1 record. They lost to the Dacia Vienna Vikings 38-8 but turned around and defeated Denmark’s Triangle Razorbacks 54-38.

Badalona, defending Spanish champions, have finished the regular season in the Spanish National League of American Football with a 6-2 record. They will face the unbeaten Osos Rivas in the semifinals on May 8. Meanwhile, La Courneuve have powered their way through the French League of American Football North division winning all seven games so far averaging 52 points a game while surrendering just seven.

Badalona will be quarterbacked by veteran Sergi Gonzalo. Expect the six-time national champion passer to target receiver Raul Cernuda who is second in the Spanish league with 616 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. He will also be looking to get his talented running back Edu Morlans involved early and often. Morlan’s currently sits third in the league with 487 yards and seven touchdowns rushing.

Defensively the Dracs have veteran defensive lineman Felix Ntwa. The physical Austrian defender will look to make a difference in the trenches against an explosive Flash team.

Flash quarterback Conor Miller has played in five of the seven games so far and has thrown for 935 yards and 11 touchdowns. His leading receiver, Stephanes Fortes has hauled in 15 passes for 363 yards and eight touchdowns. Ryan Smith is not far behind with 334 yards and five scores on 21 receptions. The key to the Flash offense though may well be running back Jason Bofunda who leads France with 481 yards rushing. On defense, defensive back Junior Smith has two picks so far this season, tied for the lead.
