VANCOUVER — The Montreal Alouettes make their way west for a rematch with the BC Lions to close out the Forty Creek Quadruple Header in Week 15 action.

Montreal downed BC, 37-30, a week ago to improve to 10-2.

The Lions are trying to get back in the win column after the loss snapped their five-game winning streak.

Here’s three keys to victory for both teams ahead of Saturday’s 10:00 p.m. ET kickoff, which can be watched on TSN or RDS in Canada, as well as on CFL+ in the U.S. and internationally.

MONTREAL ALOUETTES

1. STEVIE SCOTT III

With the Als putting running back Travis Theis on the six-game injured list, the storyline in the backfield focuses on Stevie Scott III. Scott’s been out with his own hamstring injury, so he could be eased back in. Regardless, he’ll have to provide some production for the Als to find offensive success.

2. DAVIS ALEXANDER SHOULDERING THE LOAD

While losing a key contributor like Theis is never ideal, quarterback Davis Alexander is more than capable of putting the offence on his back. He sits six yards shy of 4,000 for the season, but has been held below 300 for three straight weeks. The Lions defence will come in even more prepared having seen him once, meaning adjustments and spreading the ball around becomes imperative.

3. MORE OPTIONS CREATES MORE PROBLEMS

While receivers Tyson Philpot and Tyler Snead are in the midst of career years, the play of complementary wideouts like Alexander Hollins and Kaseem Ferdinand can’t be understated. The more production head coach Jason Maas can get out of those not named Philpot and Snead, the more room it creates for his stars.

BC Lions

1. A FULL 60

BC gave up 30 second-half points, including 20 in the third quarter. If the Lions can build a lead this time around, better execution and fewer mistakes could help them turn the tide.

2. HOW DOES ZANDER HORVATH RESPOND?

The last time running back Zander Horvath was held to less than 50 rushing yards was against Saskatchewan on Aug. 23. His response? He roared back with 164 against Ottawa the following week. He’ll need to have a chip on his shoulder again if he hopes to have a different outcome against the same defence.

3. DEFENSIVE ENCORE

Giving up 37 points may not seem like a good defensive performance, but the Lions were able to hold the high-octane Als’ offence to 338 net yards. If linebacker Darnell Sankey can help keep his former team to a similar output, it may yield a different result.

The Alouettes are 9-33-1 (.221) all-time in Vancouver, with their last victory coming in August, 2015.
Davis Alexander is 1-0 against the Lions, but he’s yet to make a start in BC Place Stadium.
Nathan Rourke is 3-1 against Montreal.
Lions’ receiver Justin McInnis is 175 yards away from 5,000 in his career.
