The Helsinki Wolverines (7-4) host the UNC Crusaders (2-9) in this final week of regular season play. The fourth-place Wolverines could potentially move up in the playoff standings with a win and some help from the Kuopio Steelers and Porvoo Butchers this weekend. But first, they’ll have to take care of business on the road.
Quarterback Jabari Harris will spread the ball out to fellow veteran RJ Long, former CFL Global Draft pick Sebastian Sagne, Martin Emos, Matias Tuominen, and running back William Young often today against a poor Crusaders secondary. Harris is however the conductor of this offense averaging 216 total yards a game, good for second in the league this year.
Defensive backs Eric Irvin, Curtis Slater, and Darius Lewis match up well with UNC’s passing attack. receivers. In the trenches, Helsinki’s defensive line features James Perrineau, Ville Valasti, Benjamin Egbudiwe, and Jonis Heikkinen, all should be able to make some plays today against an up and down UNC offensive line.
The Crusaders have had a long year notching only two wins, however, they have been at times an exciting team to watch. Two weeks ago, quarterback Shay Netter put up 377 yards and six touchdowns through the air in an offensive explosion. He was able to find brothers Miles and Nolan Corpening along with Spanish talent Matias Castagno. However, consistency has been the issue as the Crusaders have been very up and down this season in all three phases.
