LIVESTREAM Finland: Kotka Eagles @ Seinäjoki Crocodiles, June 17th, 17:30 CET, (5:30 pm, 11:30 am ET)

The Seinäjoki Crocodiles (2-1) will take on the Kotka Eagles (0-3) this Friday night action in the Maple League.

The Crocodiles have been one of the surprises of the league so far this season and hope to keep playing well against a struggling Kotka team.

The Crocodiles‘ offense unsurprisingly has been centered around Christian Powell this year. Powell has been the workhorse back in Seinäjoki since arriving in 2018. The former Colorado Buffalo (NCAA DI) looks to be back to his old tricks as one of the league’s leading rushers again this year. Last week, Powell had another big game running for over 200 yards. Quarterback Anthony Whitehead can also run the ball well as he scored a nice rushing touchdown last week.

Defensively, the Crocodiles have Finnish talents Filip Zacok and Saideu Jallow that give the club two young pieces to build around in the front seven. Former “Last Chance U” star and University of Tennessee (NCAA DI) defensive lineman Emmit Gooden also hopes to make more of an impact after a quiet debut last week. Last week Gooden had seven tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery touchdown.

Kotka suffered an embarrassing loss last week, falling by 71 points, 76-7. The Eagles offense sputtered while their defense was humiliated by the opponents’ skilled playmakers. Offensively, the Eagles were able to throw for 175 yards and a touchdown as new quarterback Niko Hannula showed some potential.

With a win today the Crocodiles would move to 3-1 putting them in a good position as the playoffs are the goal for this Seinäjoki team.
