Two of the top three teams in the French D1 Elite league clash Saturday, March 8 when the Thonon Black Panthers (3-1) pay a visit to Paris to face the Asnieres Molosses (3-1).

This is the first meeting of the season between these two teams. In 2024, they played two closely-contested games. One ended in a 35-35 tie while Thonon won the other 21-10.

Asnieres whipped the Leopards 33-6 to start the season but lost 22-12 to the La Courneuve Flash. They exacted some revenge a couple of weeks ago in whipping the Diables Rouges 33-7 and then blanked the Saint-Ouen Cougars 30-0.

Thonon opened the season with a tight 6-5 loss to arch rivals, La Courneuve Flash but came back a week later with a 10-8 win over newcomers to the league this year, the Villepinte Diables Rouges. In week 3, the Black Panthers rolled over the Cougars 56-0 and then handed the Leopards a 45-0 drubbing.

For the Molosses, Brody Hahn has completed 34 of 61 passes for 605 yards and nine touchdowns and only one interception, good for third overall in the league. Wide receiver Mahmoud Gharsallah has caught six of those passes for 159 yards and two scores.

Black Panthers quarterback Jose Tabora Jr. is not far behind in fourth having thrown for 559 yards and seven touchdowns. His main target has been Pierre Yves Dayres who has 14 receptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns. Joseph Mouynol leads the team in rushing with 33 carries for 207 yards and three touchdowns.

This one is a toss up with a slight edge going to the home team Molosses.
