The French Elite Div. 1 features just one game this weekend when the Marseilles Blue Stars pay a visit to Toulouse to face the Toulouse Ours, Sunday, Feb. 27.

The Blue Stars (1-0) are coming off a huge win on the opening day of play when they manhandled the Montpellier Hurricanes, beating them 58-7. Meanwhile, Toulouse (1-0) also earned a win to start the season, but it was hard fought as they edged the Grenoble Centaures 10-6.

Marseille quarterback Kaleb Scott was one of the key architects of the blowout win over the Hurricanes. The Canadian signal caller tossed six touchdown passes as part of his 269 yard passing day and will be dangerous again against Toulouse. Defensively, the Blue Stars rely on linebacker Eddy Abdullah who had six tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery in the first game. Defensive backs Khefil Osseni and Adrien Amouyal each had a pick and will be on the prowl again against Toulouse.

Toulouse quarterback Cameron Valardo, a former teammate of Scott at St. Mary’s University in Canada, threw for 113 yards and a single touchdown in the tight win over Grenoble with wide receiver Richard Gillon his main target with four catches for 40 yards. Running back Gerald Childs was a workhorse for the Ours with 30 carries for 130 yards in that first game so Marseilles can expect to see plenty from him. Childs also caught three passes and is dangerous out of the backfield.

Linebacker Hugo Groslambert anchors the Ours defense and had six tackles and a sack in the opening day victory.

With two former Canadian college teammates going head to head, this game will definitely provide excitement.
