LIVESTREAM German Qtrfinal: Ravensburg Razorbacks @ Potsdam Royals, Sept. 12, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am ET)
The Potsdam Royals (11-1) have spent the past five games slamming the door on everybody they face, but Saturday brings a new challenge as the GFL North runners-up host the Ravensburg Razorbacks (8-4), third in the GFL South, in a German Football League quarterfinal at Luftschiffhafen Stadium in Potsdam.
The defending champion Royals enter the playoffs on a remarkable defensive run. Five straight shutouts have produced a combined 290-0 score, including wins over three other playoff teams.
Royals defense meets a dangerous arm
If anyone can test that defense, Broghean McGovern has the numbers to suggest he can.
The Ravensburg quarterback completed 220 of 380 passes for 3,455 yards and 39 touchdowns during the regular season. He also threw 14 interceptions, giving a ball-hawking Potsdam defense opportunities if it can pressure him into hurried throws.
Tim Müller has been one of McGovern’s biggest downfield threats, catching 45 passes for 907 yards and 10 touchdowns while averaging 20.2 yards per reception.
The Razorbacks showed how quickly they can adjust in their 52-21 loss to the undefeated Dresden Monarchs. Down 21-0, they opened up the offense and cut the deficit to 21-14 before Dresden pulled away.

Potsdam can strike from anywhere
The Royals haven’t needed their defense to do everything. They scored 583 points during an 11-1 regular season, and Maximilian McLeod finished with 68 catches for 1,156 yards and 17 touchdowns.
McLeod and quarterback Hugh “Bay” Harvey tore into the Munich Cowboys in the regular-season finale, connecting for four touchdowns as Potsdam rolled 59-0.
Ravensburg has playmakers capable of disrupting that attack. Ben Rashid finished the regular season with 53 tackles and 11.5 sacks while forcing two fumbles and grabbing an interception. Alex Mashak added 61 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception.
Ravensburg gets another shot at Potsdam
There is also some unfinished business between these teams.
Potsdam traveled to Ravensburg during the regular season and came away with a 34-7 victory. The Razorbacks now have to reverse that result on the road to keep their season alive.
Ravensburg only missed a home quarterfinal on a tiebreaker after finishing level with the Pforzheim Wilddogs at 8-4. Now the road runs through Potsdam, where the defending champions haven’t allowed a point in five games.
