LIVESTREAM GERMANY: Cologne Crocodiles @ Berlin Rebels, August 29, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am ET)

The Cologne Crocodiles (4-4) will travel to Germany’s capital city to take on the Berlin Rebels (1-8).

The Crocodiles have clinched a playoff spot but are still looking to improve their playoff seed. The Rebels on the other hand look to finish out the season on a high note as they could face relegation come September.

The Berlin Rebels offense continues to struggle despite new additions scoring a mere 12 points per game. Quarterback Donovan Isom at 6’6″ and 250 pounds has shown some flashes since his arrival to Berlin throwing for 405 yards and three touchdowns while adding one more score on the ground. Expect Isom and running back Caleb Stennis to play well today as this Rebels squad is aiming to get upset as they embrace their role as spoilers. Stennis stole the show last week rushing for 167 yards. Stennis has been one of the Rebel’s lone bright spots averaging yards rushing per game.

Defensively, the Rebels secondary matches up well with a high-flying Cologne passing attack. Gino Chongo and Paul Morant will look to take away the Crocodile’s best receivers and continue to cause turnovers. Hybrid Canadian defender James McCallum is another key defender to watch as he made eight tackles last week. At the line of scrimmage, fans can expect French pass rusher Faye Said and British defensive tackle Remi Daniels to hurry Cologne quarterback Christian Strong.

Christian Strong and his Cologne team travel to Berlin after a heart-breaking loss to Potsdam last week. Turnovers haunted the offense as the Crocodiles blew a 12 point third-quarter lead. Determined to bounce back, expect Strong to continue to target receiver duo Markell Castle and Aaron Jackson as the two have combined to put up 1909 and 22 touchdowns this season. Those impressive stats clearly make them far and away from the league’s best duo. On the ground expect Dean Tawani to bounce back from a tough game and lead the way for Cologne.

Defensively, Cologne stepped up last week at the line of scrimmage, holding a normally dominant Potsdam running game to 3.8 yards per carry. Today, the task will be similar as the Rebels feature another one of the league’s most talented ball carriers. Defensive backs Emory Polley and Dejvion Stewart will look to contain a Rebels passing game that has been poor this season. Expect linebackers Martin Pinter and Dylan Bakker to stay busy today lining up against a run-first Berlin offense.

Berlin looks to find their identity before facing potential relegation next month. Their offense will need to find a consistent passing dimension as running back Caleb Stennis has been carrying the load as of late. Across the field, Cologne aims to bounce back from last week’s loss and secure the third playoff spot in the GFL North.
