LIVESTREAM: Germany – Düsseldorf Panther @Cologne Crocodiles, Sat. June 8, 4p CEDT (10a EDT)

The winless Düsseldorf Panther (0-5) travel to Cologne to face the 1-4 Cologne Crocodiles in a game of desperation for both teams as the German Football League rolls into week six.

Cologne took their first win of the season last week outscoring the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 48-28 after they had dropped four straight losing to the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions 23-6 and 45-7 and then losing 31-14 to the Hildesheim Invaders and 17-0 to Dresden. Meanwhile, the Panther have dropped five in a row following last week’s loss to the HIldesheim Invaders 46-10. They had opened the season losing to the Monarchs 49-13, the Invaders 49-17 , Potsdam Royals, 34-17 and the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes 37-17.

Neither offense has performed well so far this year with Cologne scoring a total of 75 points in five games and the Panther 74. But Düsseldorf has given up a league-worst 43 points a game compared to 28.8 for the Crocodiles.

For Cologne, new QB Conor Miller had a breakout game last week against Kiel throwing for 217 yards and three touchdowns after having a tough day against Dresden the week before throwing for a total of  79 yards. RB Colby Goodwyn, leads the GFL in rushing with 533 yards after rushing for 134 yards last week in the win over the Hurricanes. He is tough to bring down in space and will put all kinds of pressure on a Dusseldorf defense that is allowing 155 yards rushing a game.

Panther quarterback Christian Strong (Seton Hill) has completed 116 of 206 passes for 1,085 yards and five touchdowns with Féli Manoka as his leading receiver with 382 yards. He has tossed nine interceptions however. . Sergej Kendus is the team’s leading rusher but he has only carried the ball 40 times for 217 yards in five games and with 137 of those yards in one game against Potsdam.

This is the fourth straight road game for Düsseldorf who have only played one home game since the season’s start.
