LIVESTREAM: Germany – Kiel Baltic Hurricanes @Cologne Crocodiles, Sat. June 15, 5p CEDT (11a EDT)

The 2-4 Cologne Crocodiles will be looking to get their second straight home win Saturday, June 15 when they play host to the 1-3 Kiel Baltic Hurricanes in German Football League North sixth round action.

The teams met two weeks ago with Cologne coming out on top for their first win of the season, beating the Hurricanes 48-28. They had dropped four straight prior to that losing to the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions 23-6 and 45-7 and then losing 31-14 to the Hildesheim Invaders and 17-0 to Dresden.

Last week, the Crocodiles downed the Dusseldorf Panther 44-21.

For Cologne, new QB Conor Miller had a breakout game against Kiel and followed up with another strong game in the win over Dusseldorf. He now has 524 yards passing for the season. However, the bad news is that RB Colby Goodwyn, the leading rusher in the GFL, suffered a serious injury early in the game last week against the Panther. In his stead, Dean Tanwani stepped in and rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Look for Tanwani again today.

The Hurricanes have struggled out of the gate this year and dropped their third of four games last week, losing 33-14 to the Berlin Rebels. Before losing 48-28 to the Cologne Crocodiles a couple of weeks ago, Kiel had lost their first game of the season to the Dresden Monarchs 42-14 and then downed the Dusseldorf Panther 37-17 in the other game.

Hurricanes QB Jake Purichia has thrown for 780 yards and four  touchdowns but tossed four interceptions in four games. Wide receiver Lukas Rehder  has caught 15 passes for 253 yards while running back Julian Ampaw has 238 yards rushing and five touchdowns. To have any chance at all in this game Ampaw will have to find gaps in the Berlin front seven. However, the Hurricanes have brought in reinforcements with the signing of WR Markell Castle and WR/RB Aaron Bruning, a teammate of Purichia’s at Indianapolis.
