LIVESTREAM GERMANY PPV: Berlin Adler @ Braunschweig New Yorker Lions, Aug. 13, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 9 am EDT)

Sunday’s lone German Football League game will see the 4-4 Berlin Adler travel to face the 6-2 Braunschweig New Yorker Lions in a GFL North matchup.

The Lions are coming off their second loss of the season, being comfortably handled by the Dresden Monarchs

The league’s leading rusher D’wayne Obi was held to just 61 yards by Dresden’s defense, while quarterback Josh Cartwright, who was picked up by the Lions as a late replacement for the injured Karé Lyles, found some success through the air considering the circumstances, but was unable to lead his new team to the endzone. Their lone score came via the defense, as a fumble recovery from Alan Steinohrt put Braunschweig on the board.

Barring the two losses against Potsdam and Dresden, who share the top spot in the North with one loss each, the Lions have dominated every opponent placed in front of them; their defense ranks first, allowing just 135 points over eight games (16.9 ppg).

Berlin Adler will be looking to take winning momentum into the game following back-to-back wins over the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, most recently with a score of 41-33. The game saw QB Zach Cavanaugh complete 18 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns, at a completion rate of 62.1% with one interception. Cavanaugh has been crucial to the Adler offense, leading the team in both passing and rushing.

The defense, however, allowed the Hurricanes to have their best offensive performance of the season, allowing 33 points and just shy of 400 total yards.
