LIVESTREAM Germany PPV: Straubing Spiders @ Munich Cowboys, June 20, 16:00 CET (4 pm, 10 am ET)

The German Football League returns to the Dantestadion this weekend as the Munich Cowboys (3-2) host the Straubing Spiders (0-4) in a Bavarian derby featuring two teams eager to bounce back from disappointing results.

For Munich, the goal is to stay in the hunt near the top of the GFL South standings after a 42-14 loss to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. For Straubing, the focus is much simpler: finding that elusive first win of the season.

Cowboys looking for response

Despite last week’s defeat, the Munich Cowboys remain one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the league.

Quarterback Nicholas Semptimphelter has been a key part of that success, while receiver Gabriel Boccella continues to be one of the GFL’s most productive targets. The challenge for Munich this week will be turning offensive production into touchdowns after struggling to finish drives against Schwäbisch Hall.

Playing at home should also provide a boost as the Cowboys look to head into an extended break on a positive note.

Spiders seeking breakthrough

The record may show 0-4, but the Straubing Spiders have been increasingly competitive in recent weeks.

After early losses to the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns and Pforzheim Wilddogs, the Spiders pushed both the Saarland Hurricanes and Allgäu Comets in close contests. Last week’s narrow defeat to Allgäu was particularly frustrating after Straubing briefly grabbed the lead during the second half.

New quarterback Trey Yeldell showed promise in his debut, throwing for 227 yards. With another week in the offense, the Spiders hope for improved chemistry and fewer costly mistakes.

Playmakers in focus

For Straubing, players such as Anthony Earl Green Jr. and Jordan Xavier Pouncey remain capable of changing a game with a single play.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, will rely on Semptimphelter and Boccella to keep the offense moving and put pressure on a Straubing defense that has struggled at times this season.

On paper, Munich enters as the favorite. But rivalry games have a habit of creating surprises, and the Spiders will arrive in Munich believing this could be their best opportunity yet to turn a competitive performance into a long-awaited victory.
