The Ancona Dolphins (1-3) and Bergamo Lions (1-4) will square off Sunday, April 28 in Bergamo in an early battle for a playoff berth in Italy’s Div. 1.

Both team need a win in this one badly.

The Dolphins three losses have been to the Parma Panthers, 14-10, Lazio Ducks, 41-12, and the Milano Seamen 29-6. They have one win, against the lowly Bolgna Warriors, 18-15.

Meanwhile, Bergamo has a win against the Torino Giaguari, 30-21 while dropping four games to the Milano Seamen (37-0), Bolzano Giants 28-24, Lazio Ducks, 34-21 and Parma Panthers, 40-7.

This is a tale of two struggling offenses.

Bergamo has scored 82 points in five games (16.4 pts/game) while the Dolphins are averaging 11.5. However, the Lions defense has surrendered 32 points every game which is a full touchdown more than the 24.7 points Ancona gives up.

Lions QB Andrea Fimiani has dropped to 7th in average yards passing per game with his 139.4 while Nelson Hughes for Ancona is slightly ahead of him averaging 156. Alexander Germany is Bergamo’s leading rusher with 310 yards on 69 carries while the Dolphins as a team have only gained 126 yards rushing in total!
