LIVESTREAM: Mexico – Mexicas v. Mayas Sunday, March 25 12p (1p EST, 8p CET)

The defending and two time champion Mayas take on the Mexicas at “Palillo” Martínez stadium in Mexico City Sunday, March 25 in a battle for Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA) Central Division supremacy.

This is the first meeting between these two teams in 2018 and they will face each other again in two weeks.

The Mexicas (3-2)  and Mayas (4-1) split the series in 2017 as the Mexicas (as the Eagles) beat the Mayas on opening day but then lost a thriller late in the season.

The Mayas are searching for their third consecutive trip to Mexico Bowl III, while the Mexicas are hoping to reach the championship game for the first time.

Running back Omar Cojolum has been the key to the Mayas offense so far in 2018 with 352 yards rushing.  Meanwhile the Mexicas rely on quarterback Ricardo Quintana who is among the top five in scoring. Mayas wide receiver Jair Viamontes has over 300 yards in receptions and four touchdowns while his counterpart with the Mexicas is Guillermo Villalobos, who is always dangerous.

The Mexicas running attack is potent with both Terril Gourdine and Vladimir Araiza able to break a game wide open.

The Mexicas 3-2 record is misleading as one of those losses was a forfeit due to a player walkout.

The Mayas have to be wary of the Mexicas in this game.
