LIVESTREAM Poland: Warsaw Mets @ Bialystok Lowlanders, May 13, 13:00 CET (1 pm, 7 am EDT)

The Bialystok Lowlanders (3-1) will play host to the Warsaw Mets (2-2) Saturday, May 13 as the Polish Football League heads into the back half of the season.

These two teams faced each other earlier in the year with Bialystok coming away with a lopsided 55-25 victory.

The Lowlanders had fashioned a formidable record until last week, winning their first three games by a combined 127-25 score. They had disposed of the Olsztyn Lakers 34-0 and the Tychy Falcons 38-0 before beating the Mets. But last week they ran into a fired-up Warsaw Eagles squad losing 13-2. The Mets, in the meantime, downed the Warsaw Eagles 27-20 to start the season but then lost 26-25 to the Krakow Kings and 55-25 to Bialystok before rebounding last week with a 42-14 beatdown of the Olsztyn Lakers.

Notwithstanding last week’s loss, Bialystok has a potent offense led by quarterback Clayton Uecker (Adrian College), who has two excellent targets in Eryk Makowski and Noel Graf. Uecker run for two touchdowns in the win over the Mets while throwing three touchdown passes. Meanwhile, running back Jędrzej Śmigielski who scored wo touchdowns in the win over the Mets as been on fire (apart from last week’s loss). However, it’s hard to say how last week’s loss will affect a Lowlanders squad that had been flying high.

In Warsaw’s win last week, quarterback Torrin Campbell (Shaw University) ran for two scores while throwing two touchdown passes. Meanwhile, running back Krzysztof Andrukonis ran for two touchdowns. These two can be dangerous for the Lowlanders.

However, the test will be if the Mets defense can replicate the performance of the Eagles in holding the high scoring Lowlanders offense to zero points as special teams scored Bialstok’s only points that day.

This one will be interesting.
