The defending champion Warsaw Eagles and the Wroclaw Panthers will battle for the Polish Football League title on Sunday when they meet in Polish Bowl XXI at Olympic Stadium in Wroclaw. The Eagles enter the championship game as the league’s only unbeaten team, while the Panthers return to the final after building momentum throughout the season behind one of the PFL’s most explosive offenses.
Champions chasing history
The Eagles have looked every bit like defending champions throughout the season, finishing the regular season undefeated despite facing one of the league’s toughest schedules. Their biggest test finally came in the semifinals, where they needed double overtime to edge the Białystok Lowlanders. Vidal Woodruff threw six touchdown passes in that dramatic victory, keeping Warsaw’s quest for a third straight championship alive.
Woodruff has transformed the Eagles’ offense since taking over at quarterback following Clark Hazlett’s departure. His chemistry with receivers Krzysztof Nosow, Kornel Witkowski, Bruno Waszkiewicz and Aleksander Dąda has helped make the passing game one of the league’s most dangerous.
Still, defense remains the foundation of Warsaw’s success. The unit featuring Eryk Paszkiewicz, Przemysław Odzimek, Dexter Fitzpatrick, Filip Zych and Dawid Magrean surrendered just 55 points during the regular season, the fewest in the Polish Football League.

Panthers peaking at the right time
The Panthers enter the championship riding impressive momentum after a 55-34 semifinal victory over the Silesia Rebels Katowice. Their offense has become one of the league’s most entertaining, scoring 257 points during the regular season before adding another 97 points in two playoff games.
Much of that turnaround has come with the arrival of quarterback Re-al Mitchell, whose ability to extend plays with both his arm and legs has added another dimension to the offense. Krystian Stępczak starred in the semifinal with three touchdowns, while Tomasz Burdziński and Hubert Frej have also played key roles in one of the PFL’s most productive attacks.
Championship matchup to watch
This final features two teams that win in very different ways.
The Eagles prefer to control the tempo with disciplined defense and an efficient passing game led by Woodruff. The Panthers, meanwhile, thrive on speed and big plays, using Mitchell’s versatility to stretch defenses all over the field.
The teams opened the season against each other, with the Eagles earning a 28-0 victory in Wroclaw. But the Panthers have evolved considerably since Mitchell took over at quarterback, making Sunday’s rematch a much different challenge.
History is also on the line. Warsaw can capture its sixth Polish championship and third straight title, while the Panthers are chasing their fifth national crown and a return to the top of Polish football.
