The reigning Romanian champion Cluj Crusaders take on the Mures Monsters Saturday, March 17 in the opening game of the Romanian American Football League at “Iuliu Hațieganu” Sports Park in Cluj.
The Crusaders defeated Mures in 2017 28-0 and handed them a shellacking in 2016 as well. Nevertheless, the Monsters appeared in the Romanian championship final in their first year in the league in 2014 so they could surprise.
Cluj is led by quarterback Paul Carja and running back Florin Oltean who scored two touchdowns in the Crusaders 17-12 win over the Bucharest Warriors in the 2017 Romanian championship game.
